Air pumps for aerating a nutrient reservoir
An air pump delivers air into water through a hose and air stone. It serves a different purpose from a water pump that moves or circulates liquid. When adding equipment to an existing reservoir, first decide whether you need a complete air set or only a replacement hose or air stone.
What does the Airset include?
The listed Airset contains an RP-2 air pump, 10 m of air hose and two air stones. The pump has two outlets and adjustable air output. Its stated total output is 180 l/h, or two outlets of 1.5 l/min each, with a power consumption of 3 W.
The litre figure refers to the volume of air delivered, not the size of a reservoir that will automatically suit the pump. The number and type of air stones and the hose layout also matter. Choose the pump position and hose routing according to the device instructions.
Match spare parts by connection and sales unit
The separately listed 50 mm air stone has a 5 mm connection. The transparent air hose is listed with a 5 mm diameter and sold by the metre. Ordering this hose is therefore different from buying the 10 m length included in the set. Compare connection dimensions and the length needed, leaving enough slack to remove parts for cleaning.
