Select timers and plug adapters for the task
A timer switches connected equipment according to a set schedule. This category includes mechanical and digital versions alongside adapters for different plug systems. The mechanical Brennenstuhl MZ20 follows a daily 24-hour cycle with 15-minute steps. The digital LCD timer listed in the shop offers weekly programmes and additional timing functions described on its product page. Before buying, decide whether the same daily schedule is sufficient or whether different weekdays require different switching times.
Check switching capacity and connector format
Compare the load rating of the particular timer with the requirements of your equipment. Include the equipment manufacturer’s guidance on starting currents and suitable switching devices. A timer does not replace temperature control or a sensor that responds to changing conditions. After setup, check the clock and programme, then confirm that the equipment follows the intended schedule. IP20 models are intended for dry indoor locations.
For plug adapters, connection direction and shape are essential. European Schuko connections and Swiss sockets must match the correct side of the adapter. Check the product’s T12 or T13 specification and its current and voltage ratings. A fixed adapter is intended to form a permanent connection. Adapters change the connector format without converting voltage, so the equipment must still be electrically compatible.
