Climate control: measure first, then make the right adjustment
The room feels warm, but your seed tray sits on a cold surface? A quick impression tells you little about conditions where your plants are placed. Suitable measuring equipment helps you identify differences in temperature or humidity. You can then decide whether to add warmth, adjust ventilation or humidify dry air.
What should the equipment do?
A thermo-hygrometer displays temperature and relative humidity. Models with a min/max memory also record readings that occur while you are away. A cable probe provides an additional temperature measurement; check separately where the device measures humidity.
Heat mats are an option for cold propagation trays. Match the mat area to the tray and add a suitable thermostat if needed. A humidifier adds moisture to the air, while a humidistat switches a connected appliance according to the measured value. The controller alone does not change the room climate.
Check compatibility with your existing equipment
A fan controller must match the fan: AC speed control, an EC control signal and an RJ45 connection are different selection criteria. Also compare the permitted connected load, included sensors and cable length. This helps you avoid buying a controller that offers the desired function but cannot work with your equipment. CO₂ products have their own subcategory; they do not replace temperature monitoring or ventilation.
