Firm propagation media keep a young root ball together during transplanting. Alongside Eazy Plug, this category includes Cannsa Plug, ROOTiT cubes, Jiffy peat pellets and Eazy Block. Compare material, quantity and dimensions with your tray and the eventual growing medium.
Tray dimensions and plug count are separate details
Eazy Plug is offered in trays of 24, 77 or 104, and Cannsa Plug in trays of 84 or 126. More plugs do not automatically mean a tray will fit every propagator. The ROOTiT tray with 24 cubes, for example, is listed at 29.5 × 19 × 4 cm. Check its footprint and the space under the lid.
Prepare, drain and transplant into a matching medium
Jiffy peat pellets must expand in water before use. Dry plugs also need moistening according to their own instructions. With Eazy Plug, excess water must drain away; the manufacturer specifically warns against leaving the base standing in water.
The Eazy Block with a 7.5 × 7.5 cm footprint is available for the next stage. Check the plug size against its opening before transplanting. Also account for any starter fertiliser already present in the chosen medium. Consistent moisture and timely transplanting when roots become visible matter more than blanket growth promises.
