Climate controllers: match the control to your equipment
Should a fan react to rising temperature, a heat mat run only when warmth is needed, or a humidifier switch according to a measured value? Start with the appliance you want to control. A humidistat, heating thermostat and fan controller perform different tasks.
Match the fan and control signal
The ventilation range includes SMSCOM, GSE and PrimaKlima controllers. First check whether your fan requires suitable AC speed control or an EC control interface. With EC systems, the signal and pin assignment must match; an RJ45 plug that fits does not establish compatibility on its own. For separate intake and exhaust fans, compare the number and function of the control channels.
With the SMSCOM Smart Controller MK2, the NTC probe makes the difference between manual speed adjustment and temperature-based control. Compare the version with a sensor, the base unit and the separately offered replacement probe. A sensor alone is not a complete controller.
Control humidity or heating
The GSE humidistat switches a suitable humidifier or dehumidifier. Its hysteresis sets the gap between the switching-on and switching-off points. The ROOT!T thermostat is intended for compatible heat mats and heaters. For each controller, compare connection type, permitted load for the appliance type and sensor cable length. With EU versions, also check the plug type for your Swiss connection.
