Coco substrate as a block, growbag or ready-made blend
The supplied form determines how much preparation coco needs. A compressed block saves transport space but must first expand. A ready-made blend already includes other ingredients. Compare usable volume and composition rather than packaging weight alone.
Plan for compressed coco
The Advanced Coco XL Block is listed at 5 kg, yielding approximately 70 litres after adding 28 litres of water. Allow a large enough container and room to loosen the medium. The stated litres refer to the rehydrated substrate.
The 3.4-litre Plagron Premium Growbag combines compressed coco with a planting bag. It is not an empty fabric pot. According to the manufacturer, the coco is washed and buffered but contains no fertiliser. Prepare it following its instructions and plan nutrition from the start.
Treat coco with perlite as a distinct blend
Gold Label Coco Perlit 70/30 contains 70 percent coco and 30 percent perlite. Adding more perlite changes this blend again and is not automatically necessary. Account for its existing structure when planning watering and drainage.
Choose a feeding plan suited to coco and monitor moisture and drainage. When moving from soil to coco, reassess previous watering intervals and nutrient applications. Blocks, growbags and ready-made blends involve different preparation and handling, even though all contain coco.

Plagron - Premium Growbag, 3.4L
Der Plagron Premium Growbag 3,4 L ist ein gepresster Coco-Block im Beutel – kein Stofftopf. Das gewaschene, gepufferte Kokossubstrat liefert hohe Luft- und Wasserführung und ist nach dem Aufquellen sofort einsatzbereit. Anwendung Langsam 1,7 L Wasser zugeben und 24 Stunden quellen lassen, anschließend weitere 0,7 L nachgießen. Ergebnis: ca. 3,4 L gebrauchsfertiges Coco mit max. 10 % Drain.
