Isopropanol, also called IPA, 2-propanol or isopropyl alcohol, is a clear liquid with a pungent odor that is becoming increasingly popular in the home, hobby and industry.

What can isopropanol actually be used for?

Isopropanol for cleaning glass surfaces
Since IPA not only cleans grease-free, but also streak-free, all glass surfaces can be cleaned without leaving annoying streaks. To do this, mix IPA 99% in a ratio of 70% with 30% distilled water. If you are unsure whether it is really glass, test it on an inconspicuous area.

Isopropanol for cleaning 3D printer components
Also completely new products & Processes benefit from the excellent cleaning properties of IPA. This allows the print bed to be cleaned completely without leaving any residue. Please contact the manufacturer of your 3D printer and make sure which parts are cleaned and how. Please note that all parts must be allowed to cool before using isopropanol.

Isopropanol for cleaning evaporators
Both the mouthpiece and the smoke channel of pipes, but also the evaporator of e-cigarettes can be cleaned with a 70% diluted solution. This is particularly important because bacteria can be found here through contact with the body. Regular cleaning is highly recommended. Isopropanol is of course also a solvent for ink stains, glue residue, varnish & Fat. Also the nail polish if there is no remover at hand. (Blend 70% IPA with 30% water). It is also used in professional nail modeling to degrease the natural nail before applying the artificial nail.

Isopropanol in the automotive industry
In the automotive industry, IPA is used to remove dirt and adhesive residues, e.g. to clean the paintwork before polishing.

Isopropanol to eliminate unpleasant odors
Bacteria ensure that shoes, for example, can have an unpleasant smell. To eliminate this, you can spray a 70% isopropanol solution on the inside of the shoe. Just leave it on and let it dry in the fresh air.

Isopropanol to combat bed bugs
Spray the infested mattresses / blankets and repeat the process for up to a maximum of 2 weeks. Then vacuum the mattress with a vacuum cleaner and let it air out well.

Isopropanol to combat woodworm
Isopropanol is also suitable for this. Mix 70% isopropanol with distilled water and apply thickly to the surface of the object to be treated with a brush. Wrap in a tarpaulin and leave for 2-3 days.
